Whether you’re in a highly visible national position, or plugging away in your local neighbourhood day after day, you have the potential to influence the culture, direction and values of the people and places around you.

If you don’t think of yourself as a leader, remember what Paul told the Corinthians:

‘Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise…’1 Cor 1:26

If we want to be God’s ambassadors to all of society, then we need to be present in all of society: exercising authority, bringing influence, visible and trusted.

We call our programme ‘public leadership’ because we believe that Christians need to be intentional influence holders – leaders with integrity and vision – at every level in every sphere and every network.

We want to equip you with the skills and opportunities to influence the people and places around you and be a light in the darkness.

We will train you to be effective, confident and firmly grounded in your Christian identity.

We will help you to gather with other leaders to learn from and support each other.

We will equip you to speak out and share about your leadership in your workplace, local community, through the media, and in your church.

We don’t pretend this is easy. But if we want our society to be more loving, just, and truthful – reflecting the God who we serve – then leadership is essential.

If you have a story of public leadership in action, we’d love to hear it.

The local church is crucial to making this vision a reality.

If you’re a church leader, we want to equip you to support and encourage your church members in their public leadership; wouldn’t it be great if the church was known as a great place for training leaders for the life of the world? And public leaders are of great value to the local church, bringing their expertise into the church and bringing their faith out into the world.

If you would like the Evangelical Alliance to speak to your church or run a training day, please get in touch.

Join us as we see God’s people become effective voices for good in society.
